Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, has called on the electorate in the state to support Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress in the July 16 governorship poll, to repay his sacrifices for the progress of the state.
Owoeye spoke in Ilobu on Tuesday during the distribution of empowerment items to selected APC members drawn from Irepodun/Orolu State Constituency, sponsored by the lawmaker representing the area, Nasiru Olateju.
He added that efforts of the state government to ensure improvement in the standard of living of the residents would be sustained and called on them to ensure Oyetola and his party record victory in both the governorship poll and the general elections.
Speaking in Yoruba language, Owoeye said, “This empowerment initiative was to show members of APC that Oyetola holds them in high esteem. Other political office holders are also assisting the governor to empower residents because of the resolve to ensure that people are gainfully engaged.
“We should repay this with good support for APC and Oyetola in the governorship polls and other elections. That is the right way to appreciate his sacrifices.”
In his remarks, Olateju, who said he also donated boreholes in Ilobu, Erin and Ifon communities, noted that the gesture was to address the scarcity of potable water in the area.
He urged the beneficiaries of the empowerment initiative, who received spraying machines, generators, dryers, grinding machines, and sewing machines, among others, not to sell the items but to put them to use and earn a living.
