The National Universities Commission was praised by Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, for ordering the closure of all universities and inter-university centers.
The Daily Post reported that NUC had ordered that universities close between February 22 and March 14.
Following consultation with the pertinent security authorities, the instruction was given by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu.
In response, Obi tweeted, “I heartily support the National Universities Commission’s decision to close universities prior to the 2023 general elections.
“In order to allow the students to exercise their constitutional right to vote at the polls.”
