2027: Middle Belt youths endorse Seyi Tinubu for Lagos gov

The Lagos branch of the Middle Belt Youths has endorsed Seyi Tinubu for the governorship of Lagos State in 2027, urging him to build on the legacy of his father, President Bola Tinubu.

At a press conference held on Thursday at Eko Hotel in Lagos, Dr Stanley Augustine Kavwam, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Middle Belt Forum, and Capt Brent Kane, the forum’s National Youth Leader, highlighted Seyi Tinubu’s detribalised approach to governance. They commended his empowerment of all tribes within and beyond Lagos, declaring him the ideal candidate to lead the diverse and multicultural state.

The group emphasized Seyi Tinubu’s ability to unify Lagosians of different ethnicities and religions. According to them, his leadership qualities mirror his father’s, making him capable of fostering harmony and progress in Lagos.

“Who else will the people in Lagos support if Seyi Tinubu accepts to run for the highest office in Lagos State?” the group stated. “Seyi knows no tribe, no religion, and no gender. He believes in all people irrespective of their tribe and religion. Those of us from the Middle Belt are mostly at a disadvantage in a mixed-tribal state such as Lagos. With Seyi Tinubu in the saddle, there is no doubt that our interests will be protected.”

The group praised Seyi Tinubu for his interpersonal skills and humanitarian efforts, citing his swift response to the Borno flood disaster as an example of his commitment to national service.

“There are many sons and daughters of presidents across the country whom we have carefully assessed. Many of them have been scored very low in terms of interpersonal relations. Most of them don’t come close to people, but Seyi is exceptionally different,” they said.

“His limitless link to other tribes makes it possible for us to adjudge him as one of the most detribalized young persons in Nigeria currently. He will surely address the tribal sentiments and grudges many of us bear in Lagos. To crown it, he has firm roots to the southeast as he is married to a South Easterner. This is a plus.”

The group lauded Seyi Tinubu’s office as a hub of inclusivity, stating, “His office is for all tribes and religions. There is no tribe or religion from what we have gathered that is not found working with him.”

They also highlighted his contributions to youth empowerment and national integration, stating that the endorsement received approval from the national body of the Middle Belt Youths in Abuja.

“We are aware of his roles towards the empowerment of youths of all tribes in the past year, and this is what modern leadership entails,” they said.

The group concluded by calling on Seyi Tinubu to prepare for the 2027 governorship race.

“Consequently, we call on Mr Seyi Tinubu to get ready to put on the leadership toga come 2027. It is now or never!”
