Leaders of Abia North Senatorial District, united under the Abia North Peace Foundation, have pledged their full support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the lawmaker representing the district in the National Assembly, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, in the upcoming general elections.
The group stated that the zone would not repeat the mistakes made in 2023 when it failed to deliver sufficient support for the president.
They committed to ensuring a strong turnout and delivering substantial votes for both leaders.
Chief Nnanna Ukaegbu, leader of the ANPF, spoke to the press in Umuahia on Wednesday, asserting that Abia North remains confident in the leadership of President Tinubu and Senator Kalu. He highlighted their significant contributions to the development of the region as key factors behind their endorsement.
“We have seen the leadership capacity of President Bola Tinubu and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. They have shown commitment to the development of Abia North, and we will do everything within our power to re-elect them,” Ukaegbu said.
The group also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for prioritizing Abia North during his administration, especially through the numerous development projects allocated to the zone, which have been facilitated by Senator Kalu.
In particular, the leaders commended Senator Kalu for overseeing the construction of over 80 schools across Abia North and facilitating critical road projects in communities such as Ohafia, Arochukwu, Bende, Isuikwuato, and Umunneochi. Some of the key roads that have been facilitated by Senator Kalu include the Ndi Orieke Ohafia Road, Amannagwu Arochukwu Road, Amakwu Amaoku Road, Alayi Road, Okai Item Road, and Ozu Item Road, among others.
“Through the efforts of Senator Kalu, President Tinubu has ensured that critical infrastructure projects are coming to Abia North. We are benefiting from his administration, and we must reciprocate this support at the polls,” Ukaegbu added.
