A social media practitioner, Friday Aghedo, has been appointed as the Chief Press Secretary to Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa.
The appointment, which took effect from December 2, 2024, was confirmed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Mr. Musa Ikhilor.
Aghedo brings a wealth of experience in media handling and leadership skills to his new role. He has worked closely with Deputy Governor Idahosa since 2019, serving in a similar capacity when Idahosa was elected to the House of Representatives and throughout his transition to Deputy Governor of Edo State.
Before his involvement with Idahosa, Aghedo served as the Press Secretary to the Chairman of Ovia South West Local Government Area. Additionally, he held the position of Deputy Director of the New Media Committee for the All Progressives Congress Governorship Campaign Council, contributing significantly to the campaign efforts that led to the victory of Governor Monday Okpobeholo.
Aghedo, a married father of children, holds a BSc in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Benin (Uniben). In addition to his work as the Deputy Governor’s Press Secretary, he is a blogger and publisher of a news platform.
His achievements have earned him numerous accolades, including the ASMIIN Blogger of the Year Award in 2021.
