The wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Ekaette Akpabio, has firmly denied the sexual harassment allegations made against her husband by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In an interview with Arise Television on Friday, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the Senate, accused Akpabio of sexual harassment.
She also claimed that her rejection of his alleged advances led to Akpabio deliberately blocking her motions in the Senate and subjecting her to persistent harassment and character assassination.
However, Mrs. Akpabio strongly refuted the claims during a press briefing at her Abuja residence on Friday, describing the allegations as baseless and a fabrication. “My husband is sexually disciplined,” Mrs. Akpabio stated, emphasizing the integrity of her husband.
She further explained that the two families share a long-standing cordial relationship, which dates back even before Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s marriage. Mrs. Akpabio pointed out that Akpoti-Uduaghan was at her family residence on the alleged date of the incident, 8th December 2023, and therefore, the accusations could not be true.
Praising her husband’s commitment to women’s rights and inclusion in governance, Mrs. Akpabio reiterated that Akpabio has always been a strong advocate for women, even before assuming the role of Senate President.
In a stern warning, she urged women not to make false accusations and vowed to take legal action in response to the allegations.
