The President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, has reacted to the swearing-in ceremony of the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, which took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.
Premium Politics had earlier reported that Akume was appointed as the SGF, during a meeting with the Progressives Governors Forum, last week Friday, and subsequently took his allegiance and Oath of office at about 11:06 am, in front of many dignitaries, including some serving and former governors, within the Presidential Villa’s Council Chambers, Abuja.
Reacting via his Twitter handle after the event, Tinubu who expressed optimism that Senator Akume’s service in his new position, will be to the benefit of the nation, said he had demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and a deep understanding of the workings of government in the past.
“It was with great pleasure that I am, today, administered the Oath of Office and Allegiance to Senator George Akume to mark his official÷ assumption of office as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“As a distinguished public servant who has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and a deep understanding of the workings of government, I do not doubt that Senator Akume’s service in the new position will be to the benefit of our nation,” he wrote.
