The People’s Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State has conducted its primaries for the upcoming local government elections, electing 31 chairmanship and 368 councillorship candidates.
Governor Umo Eno praised the peaceful conduct of the primaries, attributing it to the state’s stability and peace.
He congratulated the nominees and reiterated his commitment to implementing more youth welfare programs, according to Daily Post.
Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi hailed the primaries as a showcase of PDP’s orderliness and peace.
State PDP Chairman Elder Aniekan Akpan lauded the delegates and party faithful for the successful exercise, indicating the party’s readiness for victory in the October polls.
Party leaders, including Speaker Udeme Otong and former National Assembly member Aniekan Umanah, predicted a massive PDP win in the upcoming elections.
The primaries were conducted in a fair and transparent manner, setting the stage for PDP’s continued dominance in Akwa Ibom State.
“I want to appreciate all of us for the peaceful conduct of the primaries. The success of our party primaries is largely due to the peace enjoyed in our state and the general disposition of my administration,” Eno stated.
On his part the state PDP chairman, Elder Aniekan Akpan, who witnessed the nomination of Uyo Ukpanah in Ukanafun LGA, lauded the delegates and party faithful for the successful conduct of the exercise.
He said that the peaceful conduct of the exercise throughout the state is an indication of the party’s “readiness to win at the polls and continuing to deliver good governance to the people”.
