Anambra APC candidate Ozigbo confident of victory ahead gov primary

The All Progressives Congress aspirant for the November 8, 2025, Anambra governorship election, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, has expressed confidence in his ability to win the party’s primaries scheduled for April 5, 2025. Ozigbo made this declaration while speaking to journalists after concluding his stakeholders’ engagements across the three senatorial districts of the state in Awka on Saturday.

The political gatherings, according to reports, were aimed at mobilizing support for the APC in preparation for the November 2025 Anambra State governorship election.

Ozigbo reiterated his belief in APC’s potential to reclaim Anambra, but emphasized that success in the upcoming polls would be heavily dependent on the choice of candidate. He stressed that his political journey had always been focused on the people rather than “party loyalty.”

He urged APC stakeholders to make strategic decisions in the upcoming primaries, highlighting that the party’s ability to defeat the incumbent Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, would hinge on selecting the right candidate.

“The choice before us is clear—this election is not about party pride; it is about Anambra’s survival. And if APC wants to win in November, we must put forward a candidate who can win beyond party lines. And that candidate is me,” Ozigbo said.

He continued, “I did not join APC to decorate the register. I joined because I believe this party can deliver a new dawn for Anambra—but only if we choose wisely, unite boldly, and prioritize competence over politics. This is not a time for experiments or sentiments. This is a time for strategy. If APC wants to win, we must present a candidate who has the trust of Ndi Anambra, across all parties and communities. That candidate is me.”

Ozigbo also voiced his support for the indirect mode of party primaries, noting that it could provide a better and more orderly process with guaranteed fairness. He further emphasized the importance of transparency, particularly regarding the delegates involved, and the need for their timely identification to prevent any imposition.

“I am certain that I will get the party’s ticket, there is no contest by the grace of God. I will not only win, I will win by overwhelming victory because I have been tested and trusted. The people have seen my strength, they know my class, they know where I am coming from and they know my adventures in politics,” he added.

Ozigbo, who recently joined the APC from the Labour Party, also addressed the controversy surrounding his switch of political platforms. He assured the electorate that his political journey was rooted in trust and that he had the people’s confidence, citing his 2021 governorship bid as a testament to his popularity.

“The electorate know why I am in politics, they trust the reason, and in 2021, they know I actually won the governorship election. I want to assure Ndi Anambra that they should trust the APC and there won’t be any controversy. I have been to Anambra South, Anambra North, and today is Anambra Central. From the feedbacks, I am confident I will get 75 percent of the votes, with the remaining six candidates sharing the rest,” Ozigbo said.

He emphasized his commitment to the APC, noting that he was in the party to help build it and change the negative perceptions surrounding it. “I am a party person, I am in APC to build the party and change some of the negative impression about the APC and for the party to impress and impact the system,” he said.

Ozigbo reassured stakeholders that if the process is free and fair, he is confident of winning the primaries. “I will always remain a God-fearing politician to make Anambra proud in politics,” he added.
