APC chieftain applauds Nwifuru’s victory at Ebonyi gov tribunal

The All Progressive Congress have rejoiced over the victory of Governor Francis Nwifuru at the Ebonyi Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

Premium Politics reported that the tribunal, on Wednesday, affirmed the election of Nwifuru, while dismissing the petitions of the Peoples Democratic Party, its governorship candidate, Ifeanyi Odii, that of the All Progressive Grand Alliance and its governorship candidate, Bernard Odoh.

Both the PDP and APGA had brought Nwifuru, who was declared winner of the March 18 governorship polls in the state, to court to challenge his victory.

According to the PDP and its candidate, Nwifuru was at the time of the election not qualified to contest on the platform of the APC because he was still a member of the PDP.

However, the Tribunal’s three-member panel headed by Justice Lekan Ogunmoye held that there was no evidence from the petitioner to prove non-compliance with the Electoral Act in the election.

While the PDP has vowed to appeal the judgment with the optimism of reclaiming their mandate, Political Analyst and APC stalwart, Kachukwu Emmanuel, has applauded the tribunal’s verdict.

He said it was well-deserved because the people voted for Nwifuru during the governorship polls.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that Emmanuel expressed joy, stating there had been jubilation everywhere since the judgment, and it’s evidence of the people’s support for the Governor.

He said, “People voted for him, and there are no two ways about it. This jubilation is purely a show of love. We are happy with the ruling. Congratulations to him and APC.”
