APC mourns journalist killed by gunmen in Zamfara

Hamidu Danjibga

The Zamfara State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has mourned the death of Hamidu Danjibga, the veteran journalist who was murdered by gunmen recently.

The APC in a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau on Thursday, by its state Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris, described his murder as disheartening.

It would be recalled that Danjibga, who was the State Correspondent of Voice of Nigeria during his death, had been missing for three days before his corpse was found in a soakaway behind his house on Wednesday.

Reacting to the development, the APC scribe wrote: “The state party Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani wishes to commiserate with the immediate families of the deceased, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and entire members of the NUJ Correspondents Chapel in the state over the Danjibga’s death.”

Danjibga further described the deceased as a friend to everyone, noting that “he was dedicated, and he spent the whole of his life in serving humanity through the journalism profession.

“This is a great loss to the journalism profession, Zamfara and Nigeria as a whole.

“We pray to Allah to forgive his sins and grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.”

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Idris said that the state APC leadership has urged security agencies to investigate the circumstances behind his death and bring the perpetrators of the terrible act to book.

However, the remains of the deceased have since been buried in Gusau, the Zamfara capital, according to Islamic rites.

Danjigba served as the Zamfara Correspondent of the Hausa Service, Voice of Nigeria, before his untimely death.
