Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has stated that the All Progressives Congress remains the ruling party in the state despite losing the July 16 elections to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
Premium Politics reported that the PDP Senator Ademola Adeleke polled PDP 403,371 to defeat Oyetola and the APC with 375,027 votes, while Lasun Yusuf of Labour Party, LP polled 2,729.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has since presented the governor-elect with the Certificate of Return.
However, during a meeting with APC members and supporters in the state on Friday, Governor Oyetola charged his supporters not to allow the outcome of the election cause dissatisfaction and division within the party, according to his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan.
“He preached peace and unity among party leaders and members across all levels, from ward to local government to state. The governor also advised party members who have grievances to channel them to the appropriate quarters and stop expressing them on social media, in the interest of the party.
“He noted as Governor of Osun, he will continue to govern with fear of God and love of the people, just as he reiterated his commitment to the well-being of the people and development of the State,” Omipidan said.
