The All Progressives Congress has submitted its list of candidates to the Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission for the upcoming local government elections.
The submission, made by APC State Chairman Isa Sadiq Achida, includes 23 candidates vying for chairmanship positions and 244 for councillorship.
Achida assured the commission of the party’s cooperation and support for a smooth electoral process. He also commended the commission for observing the party’s primary elections, according to Daily Trust.
Meanwhile, the opposition People’s Democratic Party is still deliberating on its participation in the elections, according to State Chairman Bello Goronyo.
The local government elections are scheduled for September 21, and the electoral commission has promised a level playing field for all participating parties.
“We will do our best to ensure all parties get the right chance and opportunity to present candidates for the election,” Suleiman vowed.
