The All Progressives Congress has unveiled former Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, as the running mate to its standard bearer, Bola Tinubu, ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
Shettima was unveiled at an event in Abuja on Wednesday, amid the controversy against the same faith ticket of the party.
Tinubu had picked Shettima as his running mate following his emergence as the party’s presidential candidate, a development that caused rancour within and outside the party.
The Christain community, under the aegis of the Christain Association of Nigeria and Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, had said it would boycott the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC in next year’s election.
Some members of the party on account of the running mate choice of the former Lagos State governor had also dumped the party, with the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation., Babchir Lawal, distancing himself from the ticket.
