The Court of Appeal in Abuja has voided the election of the lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Ishaku Abbo.
Senator Abbo, of the All Progressives Congress, confirmed to Channels Television that the court voided his election in favour of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Amos Yohanna.
Amos Yohanna had filed a petition with the tribunal in Yola, challenging Senator Abbo’s election, contending that Abbo had not been duly elected by the majority of lawful votes cast during the election.
This petition, designated as EPT/AD/SEN/02/2023, asserted that the election of Abbo was tainted by irregularities and breaches of the provisions outlined in the Electoral Act of 2022.
Furthermore, Yohanna alleged over-voting at various polling locations, falsified entries, vote alterations, and the cancellation of votes at several polling units, among other discrepancies.
