Some All Progressives Congress senatorial aspirants in Ondo State have urged the party to call the state chairman, Engr Ade Adetimehin, to order ahead of the forthcoming primaries.
This was disclosed in a jointly-signed statement released by the Ondo South Senatorial District aspirants on Wednesday ahead of Saturday’s primary election.
The aggrieved aspirants – AMB.Sola Iji, Barr.Morayo Lebi, Hon.Boye Oyewumi, Matthew Oyerinmade, and Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, all accused the Chairman of the party in the state, of high-handedness and undue Interference.
Premium Politics gathered that another aspirant, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim, did not sign the complaint letter as others expressed their dissatisfaction over the conduct of the Party Chairman.
They alleged that Adetimehin has turned himself into the Director-General of the campaign organization of Barr. Ibrahim.
“The State Chairman, Engr. Adetimehin, has turned himself to the Director General of the Campaign Organization of one of the aspirants in person of Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim.
“The State Chairman has been moving from one Local Government to the other in the Southern Senatorial District to canvass vote for aforesaid aspirant. Telling party faithful and delegates that Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim is the anointed candidate of the Governor, and that the delegates should not bother to cast their votes for any other aspirant except Jimoh Ibrahim.”
The aspirants also stated that the Party Chairman and Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim are already making plans to unduly influence the party’s electoral officer.
According to them, “Engineer Ade Adetimehin as the State Chairman in Ondo State will be the one to welcome the party’s electoral officers coming from the Headquarters to conduct the party’s primaries in the State. Now that he is already biased by choosing to be a campaign manager for one of us, which is against the principle of natural justice, he therefore cannot be trusted because he will definitely try to influence the electoral officers to the favor of his preferred aspirant.”
The aspirants also called on the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress and his executives to call the Ondo State Party Chairman to order.
