The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has welcome the newly enacted visa ban by the United States, of certain Nigerians who undermined the democratic process in Nigeria.
Premium Politics had reported that on Wednesday, the United States placed a visa ban on Nigerians who disrupted elections.
In a statement by the US Secretary of State, Antony Binken, he said, “We are committed to supporting and advancing democracy in Nigeria and around the world .Today, I am announcing visa restrictions on specific individuals in Nigeria for undermining the democratic process in a recent Nigeria elections.”
Atiku on his Twitter handle on Thursday welcomed the idea, maintaining that there should be no hiding place for the enemies of democracy.
He tweeted, “I welcome the United States visa ban on anti-democratic elements whose actions seek to undermine the 2023 elections in Nigeria.
“I encourage other established democracies to follow suit to ensure that there’s no hiding place for the enemies of our democracy.”
