The Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has denied the latest corruption allegation levelled against him.
While speaking on a BBC programme on Tuesday, Atiku stated that the allegation is baseless and it has nothing to do with him, because “that voice has disclosed nothing new.”
When he was asked if the voice on the leaked audio was his, Atiku said, “nothing new.”
“All i know, all corrupt practices or corruption allegations against me, have been investigated in this country more than anybody else and nothing was found against me.”
He stated further that, if the law states that we should make our assets public, “i will make it public.”
When the former vice president was pressed further on assets declaration, he said, “The law doesn’t provide that we should make it public. But if the law says we should make it public. I don’t mind.
Atiku, who has had series of corruption allegations levelled against him, both within and outside Nigeria was recently exposed in another audio tape, leaked by his former aide, Michael Achimugu, where a voice alleged to be Atiku’s, was heard explaining how he set up a channel to divert all corrupt proceedings.
However, An official of the All Progressives Congress has filed a motion with the High Court in Abuja, asking it to order the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and other agencies to arrest and prosecute Atiku, over a leaked tape.
