Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has reaffirmed his dedication to safeguarding the reputation of the Peoples Democratic Party and ensuring the party’s integrity is upheld.
Speaking at the PDP North-East Zonal Caucus meeting in Bauchi, Governor Mohammed stressed the commitment of both himself and fellow party members to maintaining the party’s core values. He highlighted that as the chair of the PDP Governors’ Forum, he and other leaders from the region recently engaged with the reconciliation committee formed by the National Working Committee. The governor noted that the North-East zone stands out as the region with the least internal division and discord within the party.
He further emphasized that the meeting’s focus was on fostering unity within the zone and maintaining a collective direction aimed at furthering the party’s objectives. Governor Mohammed reassured that party members are dedicated to ensuring that their actions do not harm the PDP’s reputation. He also noted the zone’s continued loyalty to the party, including its chapters without a governor, and its ongoing efforts to support the aspirations of the people.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, another prominent leader in the zone, called the reconciliation committee’s efforts timely, particularly in light of the party’s current challenges. He underscored the importance of collective action in the party’s efforts to reclaim its leadership role, urging members with grievances to reconcile and work toward unity for the party’s success.
“We bring different projects and programmes that will have a direct bearing on the aspirations of our people,” he said. “We are loyal to the zone and our various chapters, including those without a governor, and we will continue to do that.”
Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Chairman of the reconciliation committee, echoed the governors’ call for unity, stressing that the party is ready to address its internal challenges and prepare for the 2027 general elections.
