Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has declared Friday, April 5th, 2024, as a work-free day for civil servants in the State.
Diri in a memo signed by the Head of the Bayelsa State Civil Service, Biobelemoye Charles-Onyema, said the step was taken to enable the civil servants travel to partake in the coming Saturday LG election in the State.
According to the memo, the civil servants on essential duties are exempted from the work-free day.
However, while the ruling Peoples Democratic Party has been vocal about the coming LG poll in the State, other political parties have been quit about it, and non of them is yet to field in candidates to represent them in the election, except PDP.
