The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) has approved the appointment of Mr. Olusegun Awolowo as the Secretary, National Action Committee on the African Continental Free Trade Area.
According to The Leadership, Awolowo’s tenure which will run for a period of four years will take effect from December 19, 2022.
As Secretary, Mr Awolowo will be coordinating the activities of the National Action Committee of significant stakeholders towards the attainment of Nigeria’s strategic national interest.
Awolowo’s appointment was confirmed by Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday.
Awolowo, a Law graduate from Ogun State University, now Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, has served in different capacities including Special Assistant to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
He also worked with the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Abuja as Secretary for Social Development and Transport from 2007 to 2011.
Awolowo was the Executive Director/CEO of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council between 2013 and 2022, serving two tenures.
