The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan-Kukah, has described the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), as a disaster in the area of managing diversity.

The bishop, who made this remark while featuring on Channels Television, accused the President of practising “blatant nepotism” which he considered morally reprehensible.

Kukah said, “The things I have against this government are two, he has been a disaster in the area of managing diversity, and his blatant nepotism is morally reprehensible and I stand to be corrected.

“It is not a matter of whether what I am saying is true or not, because I have insisted that whoever becomes Nigeria’s president, today, or next will hear from me if they are not doing the right thing. So, it’s got nothing personal, because I am saying, I have seen where people manage diversity well.”

He added, “If we do not aspire to create a country where we are blind to the sins of the flesh, and the sins of the flesh are what produce ethnicity, toxicity that makes you define somebody standing before you not as a child of God, not base on his capacity but you give him a front seat, because you speak the same language, because he’s from your town, because you worship in the same mosque or church at that point we are not serving God.”
