Court dismisses Nnamdi Kanu’s suit against FG

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja, in a ruling on Monday, dismissed a fundamental human rights suit filed by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, against the Federal Government.

Nnamdi Kanu had sought N1 billion in damages, claiming that the Department of State Services and its Director General violated his right to a fair hearing. He alleged that DSS officials interfered with his interactions with his lawyers while he was in detention, which he argued impeded his legal defense.

However, Justice Omotosho ruled that Kanu failed to provide credible evidence to support his claims, including allegations of denied access to his lawyers and eavesdropping by DSS officials. The judge concluded that Kanu’s claims were unsubstantiated, resulting in the dismissal of the suit.
