Court evicts APC’s Omosebi allegedly over unpaid rent

A former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 elections, Tunde Omosebi, has been evicted from his Abuja residence due to allegations of unpaid rent and other disputes.

The eviction, which took place on November 15, was captured in a viral video showing a court enforcement team, assisted by police officers, removing Omosebi from the property located in a prestigious area of the nation’s capital.

Reports indicate that Omosebi’s tenancy had expired more than four years ago, and despite multiple efforts to recover outstanding rent payments, he allegedly refused to vacate the premises.

In a letter dated June 30, 2022, Omosebi had communicated to the landlord his intention to terminate the lease. The letter, which has since circulated widely on social media, cited “irreconcilable differences” and a breach of agreements as reasons for opting out of the lease renewal.

“Due to irreconcilable differences on your breach of agreements, we opt out of renewing our lease. This letter serves as notice to vacate your property within the allowable period,” the letter which has gone viral on the social media said.

He also stated that he would vacate the property within the stipulated time frame.

However, after Omosebi failed to leave the property, the landlord took legal action to seek an eviction. “I had to use his letter to file for eviction. He claimed ownership of the house but never appeared in court until the final judgment,” the landlord said.

The case was delayed by unforeseen circumstances, including the death of a magistrate overseeing the matter and the personal loss of the judge who delivered the final ruling.

When contacted for comment, Omosebi denied all allegations, including claims that he owned the house. “This is all fabricated,” he said.
