In attendance was former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who called on wealthy Nigerians to assist in alleviating the economic hardship affecting the less privileged.
Obasanjo also urged Abiodun to collaborate with the Owu Kingdom in advancing agriculture, trade, and business to promote development and food security.
During the celebration, Abiodun highlighted his administration’s dedication to enhancing the state’s tourism potential.
He remarked, “In support of this vision, our administration is steadfast in its commitment to developing tourism as part of our broader social, cultural, and infrastructural development initiatives.”
The governor emphasized a focus on grassroots development and community-centered governance, saying, “Our administration’s focus extends to grassroots development, placing people at the heart of our building our future together agenda.”
He noted the cultural significance of the Omo Olowu Day, which he described as a reminder of the state’s rich heritage.
“This festival not only reminds us of our rich cultural heritage but also underscores essential values like communal harmony, love, and unity, which are as relevant today as ever,” he said.
Abiodun added that Ogun State’s culture and traditions have long inspired progress within local communities, “Our culture and tradition have not only defined us but have also inspired our pursuit of progress within our communities.”
The governor reaffirmed the administration’s willingness to work with various stakeholders to promote cultural and economic advancement in Ogun State.
“Today, we celebrate not only our heritage but also the significant strides we have made as a state,” he said, calling for collaboration from individuals, corporations, and private sectors.
Regarding Obasanjo’s call for agricultural cooperation, Abiodun expressed full support, “This agricultural cooperative that Baba talked about is indeed a welcome development, and this administration is throwing its full weight of support behind that project.”
