Dapo Abiodun visits Tinubu in France

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has paid a visit to the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in France.

Abiodun shared this on his verified Twitter handle on Monday alongside a photograph of the two South-West politicians.

“Spent quality time with our party leader and Presidential candidate, @officialABAT to rub minds on numerous party and national issues,” Abiodun captioned the post.

The Ogun governor and Tinubu appeared to have buried the hatchet, following their outburst in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, during the former Lagos governor’s meeting with the state delegates before the APC national convention in June.

Tinubu scored 1,271 votes to defeat his closest contenders, Rotimi Amaechi and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who polled 316 and 235 votes respectively at the party’s primary.

Tinubu, on June 2, 2022, while addressing the Ogun APC delegates at the Presidential Lodge, Abeokuta, said without him,  Abiodun would not have been elected governor of Ogun State in 2019.

He said, “This one sitting behind me here, could not have become governor without me? We were at the stadium, they tore all his posters. Even the party flag, they didn’t want to hand over it to him, I was the one who brought it.

“If he wants to meet God at the right place, he must know that he would not have become governor without God and me.”

His statement came after Abiodun had earlier declared his support for Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the APC convention and refused to endorse Tinubu.

However, in what many desired as a response to Tinubu’s comment, Abiodun, on June 3, stated that he became the governor of his state because of his people, suggesting it was not the handiwork of one individual.

“I am holding this position in trust for all the people of this state and I have vowed to be fair, just and equitable and this is the solemn agreement I made between the Almighty God and myself,” he tweeted.

Since Osinbajo’s defeat, Abiodun has pledged to support Tinubu’s presidential ambition and also paid him a visit after the ex-governor’s victory at the APC presidential primary.
