Defence minister warns Amaechi against inciting unrest

Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has strongly condemned former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi’s recent call for Nigerians to protest against the country’s hardship.

Matawalle described Amaechi’s statement as reckless and irresponsible, warning that it threatens national peace and stability. He expressed concern that Amaechi’s words could exploit Nigerians’ struggles for selfish political gain.

According to Matawalle, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working tirelessly to address the nation’s challenges through various reforms.

In a statement on Saturday, he emphasized the president’s commitment to safeguarding peace and security, cautioning that incitement will not be tolerated, according to Daily Post.

The minister issued a stern warning to Amaechi and his associates, stating that attempts to destabilize the country through incitement will not be allowed. Matawalle urged Amaechi to join hands with the government to move the country forward.

This development highlights the ongoing debate over governance and socioeconomic issues in Nigeria. The government’s response to criticism and opposition has sparked discussions on the balance between free speech and national stability.

The Defence Ministry’s statement comes amid growing concerns about Nigeria’s economic and security challenges. President Tinubu’s administration has pledged to address these issues through various reforms and initiatives.

Matawalle’s warning to Amaechi reflects the government’s determination to maintain order and stability. The situation will likely continue to generate debate and attention in the coming days.

“It is both reckless and irresponsible for a former public servant of Amaechi’s standing to incite Nigerians against their own government,” he said.

“At a time when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working tirelessly to address the challenges facing the nation through various reforms that are yielding results.

“It is absurd, preposterous and shameful for anyone to exploit the genuine situation of our citizens for selfish political gain,” Matawalle stressed.

The minister reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to safeguarding the peace and security of every Nigerian, warning that any attempts to destabilize the country through incitement will not be tolerated.

“We will not allow anyone to fuel violence or manipulate the prevailing situation of our people. Let this serve as a final warning to Amaechi and his cohorts,” Matawalle stated emphatically.

“It is expected that Amaechi joins hand with the Government to move the country forward, rather he chose to stay aside with myopic assertions,” the minister added.
