Nigerian publisher and activist Dele Momodu has criticized the government’s use of extensive security measures in response to planned protests, highlighting the contrast with the country’s ongoing security issues.
In a statement posted on X on Thursday, Momodu said: “So Nigerian government can mobilise this kind of force and military hardware, yet bandits and kidnappers are on rampage everywhere.”
His comments come as authorities have deployed significant security personnel and equipment in anticipation of the #EndBadGovernance protests, which started today. A video circulating online shows a large number of police officers at an undisclosed location.
Momodu further remarked: “The good news is this government has already acknowledged and guaranteed the success of the protests inadvertently.”
