Delta APC chieftain defects to PDP ahead of LG polls

As the local government elections approach in Delta State, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Abraka, Ethiope-East Local Government Area, Mr. Ikami Monday, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party.

In a letter addressed to the Chairman of APC Ward 3, Abraka, Ikami announced his resignation from the APC, citing personal reasons for his decision, according to Daily Post.

His defection comes as a significant development in the political landscape of Delta State, as the local government elections draw near.

Ikami’s move to the PDP is seen as a strategic shift in allegiance, as the political parties gear up for the upcoming elections.

The development is expected to have implications for the political dynamics in the state, as the PDP and APC vie for control of local government positions.

Parts of the letter read, “I, Mr. Ikami Monday wish to resign from All Progressive Congress (APC) to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

Ikami said the resignation takes effect from June 10, 2024.

“This notice is for the Chairman. Reason is best known to me. I am deeply sorry for any inconveniences that I may cause,” the letter added.
