The wife of the Governor of Delta State, Mrs Tobore Oborevwori, has appealed to the people of the state to exercise patience with her husband as he continues to pilot the affairs of the oil-rich state.
According to The PUNCH, Mrs Oborevwori appealed on Tuesday while speaking when she played host to about 250 market women as part of activities to mark the yuletide celebrations. The wife of the governor also presented gift items to the 250 market women.
The 250 market women from the 25 local government areas of the state were hosted by the governor’s wife at the Banquet Hall, Government House Asaba.
She said in fulfilment of her promise during the build-up to the 2023 governorship election, she went to marketplaces to campaign and time has come to appreciate the market women.
“I welcome you all to this get-together, to say thank you for standing by us during the last election. What you are enjoying today is the hard work you did in the last election and I am here to greet you for a job well done.
“This is in fulfilment of our campaign promises to carry market women along when we come to power.
“The economy is not friendly now, the governor has promised to do more but be patient with us. I know electricity and roads are very important in our communities.
“I will discuss it with my husband about it because expectations of Deltans are very high, but please give us more time. We are aware of the sufferings of our people,” she said.
The governor’s wife, who is the founder of the You Matter Charity Foundation, said she hosted market women to an end-of-year party because everybody is somebody in her pet project.
She urged women in the state to be patient with the Sheriff Oborevweri-led government in the delivery of his MORE Agenda to the people.
