As the people of Ekiti State go to the polls today to elect Governor Kayode Fayemi’s successor, the President of United Apostolic Church of Christ Worldwide, Dr James Owoyemi, has appealed for peace and the need to shun violence in any form.
The cleric, who prayed for peaceful polls and emergence of a person after the heart of God as the next governor, charged the people to be focussed on the development of Ekiti and let that manifest in their decision, saying, “Peace is a condition for development”.
The Ikere Ekiti-born UACC leader said, “We appeal to our people to be calm and do things the way they should be. Why should you surrender yourself as a tool in the hand of devil?
“There is going to be a change of power and somebody is luring you into violence, don’t allow that! We appeal to our people to stay calm. Embrace peace.
“We have prayed, it’s part of our prayers that there should be peace in Ekiti and this transition will go smoothly by the grace of God.”
