The reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has officially resumed duty, directing his staff to do the same.
In a video announcement, Shaibu instructed all staff to report to the office of the deputy governor, warning that failure to comply would result in consequences.
The reinstatement follows a Federal High Court judgement that declared Shaibu’s office was never vacant, despite his earlier impeachment by the Edo State House of Assembly.
Shaibu expressed concern over the killing of a police officer attached to the Edo APC governorship candidate and cautioned banks against conducting unauthorized transactions with his office, according to TheNation.
He also revealed that he is awaiting Governor Godwin Obaseki’s approval to reinstate his aides.
Shaibu, who announced his resumption via a video on X, directed all his staff to do the same by resuming their duties from the office of the deputy governor.
He wrote: “In adherence to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, I announce my official resumption to the office. God Bless Edo State, God Bless Nigeria.”
