President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on Tuesday, took the oath of office for a third term in front of parliament.
After defeating three relative unknowns in December’s election with 89.6% of the vote, Sisi, who has been in office for the last ten years, is expected to hold the office until 2030.
The oath also served as the official opening of Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, which is situated east of Cairo in the desert, according to local media.
The 69-year-old Sisi will formally take office on Wednesday. Although, according to the constitution, his next six-year tenure will be his last.
