Ekiti ex-gov Segun Oni debunks Tinubu endorsement

Former governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni, has denied supporting Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress in his bid to become the next Nigerian President.

This was said in a statement released on Friday in Ado-Ekiti by Jackson Adebayo, Director of Media and Publicity for the Segun Oni Campaign Organization.

A claim that Mr. Oyetunde Ojo and the South West Agenda were collaborating with former governor Ayo Fayose to actualize Tinubu’s presidential campaign was referred to by Oni, the Social Democratic Party’s candidate in the most recent Ekiti governorship election, as “a very dishonest statement and a cheap lie.”

He claimed that nothing could force him to work for Tinubu and that Tinubu’s influence was clear during the last rigged election for governor of Ekiti.

Recall tht on Thursday, the SWAGA convener Ojo asserted that former governors of Ekiti state Fayose and Segun Oni, as well as several South-West political heavyweights, supported Tinubu.

Several of the power players, who had been working behind the scenes, according to Ojo, would come out in support of Tinubu in order to assure his success and win over more supporters.

The SWAGA head gave a speech in the capital of Ekiti State, Ado Ekiti, during a program to support the group’s door-to-door and house-to-house campaign for the APC presidential candidate.

Oni refuted this accusation and cautioned against pushing his tolerance too far, adding that he could think of any reason why the statement’s author may have included him and Fayose in the business of carrying out such tasks.
