Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has officially launched a TikTok account following his defection from the All Progressives Congress to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Within just 24 hours, El-Rufai’s TikTok account gained over 200,000 followers, with the former governor encouraging users to engage with him on Nigerian politics and SDP activities.
In his TikTok bio, El-Rufai describes himself as an “accidental public servant, certified ruffler of feathers, and deliberate SDP member,” signaling his new political alignment and willingness to challenge the status quo.
El-Rufai’s shift to the SDP came after he openly criticized the APC, accusing the party of straying from its foundational principles. He alleged that the APC had become focused on personal financial gain rather than serving the public good.
“The APC has abandoned the principles that led to its establishment. It has abandoned the community. Everyone is doing their own thing. Everyone is looking for money. The government has become a business government,” he remarked.
