The Department of State Service on Monday denied arresting the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
It stated this while reacting to the speculations that the agency invaded the CBN headquarters to arrest the governor of the apex bank.
The spokesman of the agency, Peter Afunanya, in a statement stated that members of the public should disregard the news as it’s fake.
Afunanya said, “The attention of the Department of State Services has been drawn to the false news making the rounds that its operatives invaded the Central Bank of Nigeria and arrested its governor, today, January 16, 2023. This is fake news and quite misleading. ”
