Emir: Ganduje using federal power to impose Bayero, says Kano deputy gov

The Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo, has leveled accusations against the former governor of the state, Abdullahi Ganduje, alleging his involvement in orchestrating chaos by facilitating the return of the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, with the aid of the National Security Adviser’s office.

Gwarzo made these assertions during a press briefing at the Emir’s palace in Kano, expressing concern over what he sees as an attempt by Ganduje, supported by the NSA’s office, to destabilize the state by bringing back the dethroned Emir on a chartered flight.

“It is unfortunate that the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, is using the National Security Adviser to create tension in the state by smuggling into the state, the former emir, Aminu Ado Bayero.

“The appointment and dethronement of Emir or any traditional title holder is solely the prerogative of the state government,” the deputy governor said.

He questioned the rationale behind federal interference in the state’s affairs, emphasizing that decisions regarding the appointment and removal of traditional leaders fall within the purview of the state government.

“I am here together with the governor and other top government functionaries to ensure that the new emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II start exercising his power and authority immediately after he was given his appointment letter yesterday, (Friday),’’ he added.

In a bid to reassure the populace, the deputy governor urged Kano residents to continue with their lawful activities without succumbing to fear or intimidation.

Bayero’s return to Kano in the early hours of Saturday was met with a jubilant reception from a crowd of supporters.
