Former Labour Party governorship aspirant in Anambra, Valentine Ozigbo, has revealed the reasons behind his decision to join the All Progressives Congress.
Ozigbo stated that his desire to align with progressive and forward-thinking leaders was a key factor in his decision to join the ruling party. He registered with the APC at his ward in Amesi, Aguata Local Government Area, emphasizing that his move was driven by his commitment to transformational leadership, economic development, and people-centered governance.
A close ally of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Ozigbo had previously contested the 2021 Anambra governorship election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
The Valentine Ozigbo Campaign Organisation confirmed his defection in a statement, noting that during his discussions with APC party leaders, Ozigbo outlined his vision for a brighter and better Anambra State. He highlighted his unwavering commitment to transformational leadership, economic development, and people-centered governance.
The statement further indicated that Ozigbo’s decision to join the APC was rooted in his belief in progressive governance and his desire to contribute significantly to policies that would uplift the people of Anambra and Nigeria as a whole.
Ozigbo also announced that he would release a formal statement after meeting with the APC’s national leadership in the coming days to outline his next steps.
The Valentine Ozigbo Campaign Organisation confirmed his defection, saying: “During his interactions with party leaders, Ozigbo outlined his grand vision for a brighter and better Anambra State, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to transformational leadership, economic development, and people-centred governance.”
