The former Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and the All Progressives Congress Deputy Governorship Candidate in the 2023 elections, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi, has declared his support for Barr. Francis Obigbor as the Acting Chairman of the APC in Delta State.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Osanebi criticised the alleged appointment of Chief Paulinus Akpeki, Senatorial Chairman for Delta Central, as the acting chairman, labelling it “a clear violation of the APC constitution” and “a reprehensible assault on our party’s democratic foundations.”
Osanebi reaffirmed his dedication to the principles of the APC’s constitution, asserting that Barr. Obigbor, the party’s Deputy Chairman, is the legitimate leader to guide the Delta State chapter.
“His leadership and dedication to our party are commendable, and I have no doubt he will excel in this new role,” Osanebi stated, expressing confidence in Obigbor’s capability to lead effectively.
Calling for party unity, Osanebi urged APC members, particularly those from the Ndokwa Nation, to support Barr. Obigbor’s leadership. He emphasised the need for collaboration to achieve the party’s collective goal of winning the 2027 elections and forming an APC-led government in Delta State.
“This is the time for all members to come together and work as a team to secure our future victories,” Osanebi said.
The endorsement comes at a time of internal discussions within the Delta State APC, as party members deliberate on leadership decisions crucial to its progress.
Osanebi’s backing of Obigbor signals a commitment to stability and adherence to constitutional principles, positioning Obigbor as a unifying figure in the party’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its foundation ahead of the next election cycle.
