A former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, has criticised the spokesperson of the All Progressive Congress, Festus Keyamo, over his petition to the Department of State Services, calling for the arrest of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and his vice, Datti Ahmed.

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, had on Wednesday, urged the DSS to arrest and prosecute Obi and Ahmed for alleged “incitement and treasonable felony”, according to Premium Politics.

In a petition dated March 23, 2023, and addressed to the Director General of the DSS, Yusuf Bichi, Keyamo alleged that the LP candidates were inciting people to riot and social unrest by camping some youths in a popular hotel in Abuja with the sole aim of instructing them to push out inciting messages every day on social media. He, therefore, called for their arrest, investigation, prosecution and arraignment in court.

In response, Ezekwesili, via her Twitter handle on Thursday, accused the Minister of stoking the flames of destabilisation in the country with his “ludicrous piece of nonsense.”

She tweeted, “I saw a ludicrous piece of nonsense by a Minister in the @NigeriaGov of @NGRPresident @MBuhari, stoking the embers of destabilization of Nigeria by goading and inciting @OfficialDSSNG to arrest the @NgLabour Presidential Candidate and his VP.

“Is Nigeria a Comedy to you folks?🤦🏾‍♀️

“Let me tell @OfficialDSSNG @NigeriaGov @NGRPresident and the leaders of the ruling Party @OfficialAPCNg about a very wise saying of our neighbours, the Ghanaians: ‘If no one advises you, advise yourself.’ A single word can prevent foolishness.”
