Vice President Kashim Shettima convened an emergency meeting with top officials in the petroleum sector to address the escalating fuel crisis gripping the nation.
The meeting, held at the State House, aimed to alleviate concerns over the recent surge in petroleum pump prices and widespread scarcity.
In attendance were Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Heineken Lokpobiri, NNPC Limited CEO Mele Kyari, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
The gathering follows NNPC’s directive to increase pump prices, sparking a chain reaction of price hikes in commodities and transportation.
Lokpobiri reassured the public that the fuel crisis would soon subside, citing sufficient supplies to meet national demand, according to ThisDay.
He urged citizens to remain calm, predicting that increased availability would stimulate competition and drive down prices.
The minister also clarified that the government was not responsible for the recent price hikes.
The meeting signals a concerted effort to resolve the fuel crisis and restore stability to the petroleum market.
