G5: Work for APC in 2027, Akpabio tells Wike

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has appealed to the immediate Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and his colleagues, G5 from the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party to form another aggrieved faction within the party in 2027, to secure victory for the President, Bola Tinubu in his second term.

 

The Senate president stated this during a Thanksgiving reception held at the private residence of former Governor Wike in Rivers state on Sunday, June 18.

 

Akpabio who expressed gratitude to Wike and the G5 governors who all graced the occasion, for making sure that justice and equity stand in Nigeria, commended them for their efforts during the last election.

 

He however, thanked Mike and the am, for supporting the return of power to Southern Nigeria by backing the ruling All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Tinubu, instead of their party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the 2023 presidential election.

 

“We are very delighted, we are proud to have G5. Please, ensure that in 2027, another G5 emerges so that APC will continue to do well in this country. And if you like, you can add two more, make it G7 and not only G5,” he stated.

 

Among the people who graced the event were; all members of the G5, including Wike, former governors Samuel Ortom, Okezie Ikpeazu, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

 

The event was also attended by former Ekiti State Govern Ayodele Fayose, Umar Damagum, Peter Odili, Abdullahi Ganduje, James Ibori, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who represented President Bola Tinubu.

 

Similarly, some serving governors and prominent members of the APC and the 10th National Assembly were also in attendance, making the event memorable.
