Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, condemned the vandalization of the State High Court by protesters, resulting in the theft of corruption case files against former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The court was among several locations targeted by the End Bad Government Protesters.
Governor Yusuf, during a visit to the court on Wednesday, expressed concern over the destruction and theft of documents related to Ganduje’s corruption charges, according to Daily Post.
He described the incident as a “master-minded and staged-managed mission” aimed at averting justice.
The vandalism resulted in over N1 billion in damages, with stolen office equipment, destroyed offices, and burned cars.
Governor Yusuf urged youths not to engage in violence and instead focus on skills acquisition.
He assured the judiciary of protection and directed the immediate rehabilitation of the court building and deployment of adequate security.
“It is very unfortunate that enemies of Kano State hired undesirable elements to vandalise one of the historic public buildings with a mission of averting corruption charges against the Ag. National Chairman of APC and former governor of the state Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family and aides.”
