Ado Tambai Kwa, the Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, the immediate constituency of the acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has decamped from the APC to the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party, in the state.

The Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government Council and Mudassiru Aliyu, another member of the APC, and Chairman of Garun-Malam Local Government Area of the state, defected to the NNPP.

Kwa decamped from the APC to NNPP along with his deputy, Garba Yahaya Labour, and other councillors from Ganduje’s home council Saturday evening.

Similarly, Aliyu, Chairman of Garun-Malam Local Government Area of Kano State, decamped from his former party, to join the NNPP.

It would be recalled that the Chairman of Ungogo Local Government Area of the state, Abdullahi Garba Ramat, also resigned from his position last week, and handed over the local government administration to his deputy.

Ramat who announced his resignation on FaceBook, was elected to the position in March 2021.

The former chairman did the handling over during a brief ceremony where he flagged off empowerment for 500 women and also unveiled the council’s official logo.

Also, the Chairman of Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, Auwalu Lawan Shaaibu, popularly known as Aranposu, defected to the New Nigeria People’s Party, from the APC, last week.

Shaaibu whose picture with Governor Abba Yussuf was earlier posted on social media by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Madia, Salisu Yahaya Hotoro, also declared his defection via a Facebook post.

Daily Trust reported that the APC gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, had earlier lost a strong loyalist and chairman of his Nassarawa Local Government Council, Auwalu Lawan Aramposu, to NNPP.

It was gathered that the tenure of the local government chairmen is expected to end on February 12 following their election in January 2021.

Receiving the decampees and their supporters at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Governor Yusuf applauded the “ingenuity” of the former APC members to join the NNPP.

He assured the decampees of fairness and equal treatment in their new party while stressing that NNPP would be magnanimous enough to accommodate all the APC members to serve humanity.

He said, “We are lucky that some of you have recognised the pattern of our leadership and decided to join hands with us on a mission to make Kano great. You OP hon kill are highly welcome home.”

Daily Trust reports that the defection of APC members to NNPP is coming barely two weeks after the national chairman of the party and immediate past governor of the state, Ganduje, extended an invitation to the NNPP leadership in the state to join the APC.
