President Bola Tinubu has appointed former speaker of the house of representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila as the president’s Chief of Staff.

He also appointed a former minister of special duties, George Akume, as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. One-time deputy governor of Jigawa State, Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia, was also appointed as deputy chief of staff.

This was revealed in a statement signed by the State House Director of Information, Abiodun Oladunjoye.

“In a meeting with Progressives Governors Forum, the President also named former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” the statement read.

Recall that Gbajamiamila, who is the incumbent Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, won a record 6th term of office for Surulere Federal Constituency of Lagos State in the House.

Gbajabiamila was elected to the House in 2003, and re-elected in 2007. He represents the Surulere I constituency of Lagos State.

He was elected speaker in the 9th National Assembly, House of Representative, with 283 votes, while his opponent Mohammed Umar Bago, came Second with 78 votes.
