Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has dissolved his cabinet, citing the need for renewed energy to propel his administration’s goals.
The announcement was made during a valedictory session held at the Executive Council chamber in Uyo on Friday.
Addressing the outgoing cabinet members, Governor Eno clarified that the decision was not prompted by any underperformance but was a step towards bringing in fresh hands to advance his administration’s objectives.
“For me, if changes were based on non-performance, none of the commissioners would be replaced. All of you have delivered, and that is why the Arise Agenda has succeeded. However, we must conclude one season, begin another, and continue to move forward,” Eno said, acknowledging their contributions.
The governor praised the outgoing commissioners for their efforts, noting that they had met the expectations of his administration. He emphasised that their hard work was instrumental to the success of the Arise Agenda, his administration’s roadmap for development.
Eno also disclosed plans for a valedictory dinner to be held later that evening at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, to honour the outgoing cabinet members.
Many of the commissioners in the dissolved cabinet were noted to have previously served during the eight-year tenure of former Governor Udom Emmanuel, highlighting their long-standing service to the state.
Governor Eno’s decision signals a new phase for his administration as he looks to inject fresh ideas and perspectives to sustain the momentum of his governance agenda.
