The wife of the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Mrs Mariam Adeniran has surfaced in the polital space.

The husband, Abdul-Azeez Adeniran, popularly known as Jandor, the governornship candidate of the Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party, unveiled his wife to members of the PDP family, during a political event at the party’s secretariat in Ikeja on Tuesday

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that, there has been  political propaganda about the family of the 45-year-old, who is one of the major contenders for the number one seat in the state.

The politician’s wife, who is based in United States of America, has not been pertaking in the political activities of her husband since the beginning of the 2023 electioneering campaign.

However, at an interactive session with the PDP women and leaders in Lagos State on Tuesday, Mrs Adeniran said those following her husband would not work in vain, as the candidate remains passionate about quality life for all, including women and children in the state.

Mr Adeniran, who was full of smiles and excitement, with the mammoth crowd that received her, assured them that life would be better with the PDP at the helms of affairs in the Africa most populous city.

While berating political propagandists for sponsoring campaigns of calumny against her husband on social media , she stated that being abroad does not mean she is not in support of her husband’s political ambition, noting that she has been part of his political movement, and has always supported him, right from the scratch.

“I have been part of this movement and we, my husband and I agreed that he would be in Nigeria to drive the movement while I would be in the US with the children.

“It is disheartening what people do in the name of politics on social media. I am not a social media person but I read everything they put up there,” she noted.

While soliciting women’s supporters for her husband’s vision for a better Lagos, Mariam said, though a lot had been done, much more could still be done before the end of the campaign.

“I love you and even though the election is in a few days from today, we still have so much to do together and I know that God will grant our efforts with success.

“I do see everything that you all are doing. I see all of your movements and engagements as well as your efforts to help this movement. I sincerely say thank you to everyone.

“If anyone is telling you that you are working in vain, tell them you are not because you can see the movement growing and you have been focused.

“This movement is just starting, though you have done a whole lot, but I want to let you know that it is just starting,’ she stated.

While noting that she had been so passionate about women and children, she urged the women to believe in themselves and the society they are planning to build together.

“I will make sure that all the women in this movement, not only here but also in Lagos, stand on their feet and believe in themselves,’ she said.

Assuring his party members of his confidence to win the coming election, Jandor expressed optimism that, without a godfather, he would win the election and utilize the resources in the state, to cater for the welfare of all residents, in Lagos State, noting that, he has God and people behind him.

Great party members in attendance of the event that took place at the party’s campaign office in Ikeja were; the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Funke Akindele, and the PDP ex-Board of Trustees member, Mrs Aduke Maina.

A former Lagos PDP Women Leader, Mrs Bisi Odunsi; Chairperson, Lagos4Lagos Movement, Chief Tanwa Olusi as well as the party’s women leaders across the 20 Local Government Areas and others, also attended the event.
