Gov polls: SDP demands results cancellation in five Kogi LGs

INEC

The Social Democratic Party in Kogi State has called for the cancellation of the results of Saturday, November 11 governorship election in five Local Government Areas of Kogi State.

Making the call at the state governorship election collation centre, the SDP collation agent, David Edibu, submitted a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission, calling for the cancellation of results in Okene, Okehi, Ogori Magongo, Adavi and Ajaokuta Local Government Areas, as well as some parts of Lokoja.

The party’s collation agent who claimed that the party’s agents were not allowed to get close to the polling units in the LGAs, alleged that corrupt practices, votes buying and overvoting, took place in the area.

Receiving the petition on behalf of the INEC, the state Returning Officer, Prof. Johnson Urame assured the SDP that the petition would be reviewed.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party has also expressed interest in supporting the petition submitted by the SDP.

The PDP’s collation agent, Abubakar Mahmood, claimed that the number of malpractices in the said LGAs was alarming.

However, the All Progressives Congress in its reaction to the call for cancellation, said that the PDP cannot blame anyone for not bringing agents to the polling units.
