Gov Sule gives reasons for delaying appointment of commissioners

The Governor of Nasarawa, Abdullahi A. Sule, has dismissed claims that he has delayed the appointment of Commissioners and Special Advisers due to the ongoing Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in the state.

The Sun reported that in a Government House press release signed and issued on Tuesday by the Governor’s Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba, he stated that Governor Sule affirmed the insinuations as baseless and urged the public to disregard them.

The release alleged that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party has persistently engaged in propaganda and misleading publications, particularly following each session of the Governorship Elections Petitions Tribunal.

It read, “Their objective is to elicit public sympathy and challenge the victory of Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, who secured the ruling All Progressives Congress nomination as winner of the March 18th Governorship Election in the state.”

However, the release further stated that people of Nasarawa State, recognizing the remarkable developmental achievements of the Engr. Sule administration over the past four years, have remained resolute and immune to such media-driven tactics.

“The opposition party has now shifted focus to the appointment of Commissioners and Special Advisers, an area exclusively within the Governor’s purview. The Governor, while reiterating the public’s steadfastness, emphasized that it is unnecessary to address someone else’s concerns.

“It is important to note that the ongoing case before the Governorship Elections Petitions Tribunal does not impede the State Government from making appointments. The electorate of Nasarawa State overwhelmingly bestowed their mandate on Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule through their votes in the recent Governorship election, ensuring his continued leadership for the next four years.”

To dispel any doubts, the it further stated that the Governor has already assembled a team of highly experienced individuals with impeccable integrity and expertise, ready to contribute to the realization of his administration’s vision. These individuals are being considered for appointment as Commissioners and Special Advisers.

Governor Sule assures the people of Nasarawa State that, in due course, he will forward the list of Commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and possible confirmation, as stipulated by the law. Additionally, appointments for Special Advisers will also be made.

In light of this, the Governor urges the people of Nasarawa State to remain calm and maintain confidence in the process.

“The diligent selection of capable individuals to serve as Commissioners and Special Advisers reflects the administration’s commitment to delivering sustainable progress and ensuring the state’s continued growth,” it added.
