Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has strongly criticized those blaming President Bola Tinubu’s administration for the current state of the nation, arguing that Tinubu inherited a near-collapse economy upon assuming office.
Speaking at the 48th National Council on Information and National Orientation meeting in Kaduna on Friday, Governor Sani emphasized that President Tinubu took office during a difficult period in Nigeria’s history, facing the challenge of revitalizing a struggling economy. He pointed out that Tinubu inherited what he described as a “comatose economy” and had the difficult task of implementing significant measures to prevent a complete economic collapse.
The governor reiterated that the policies introduced by President Tinubu are aimed at steering the country away from its ongoing economic crises. He acknowledged the various challenges facing the nation but expressed optimism, stating that better days lie ahead due to the president’s innovative solutions to the country’s economic troubles.
Governor Sani also stressed that the global economic downturn, combined with years of mismanagement in Nigeria, meant that fixing the economy would require time and sustained efforts. He pointed out that the president’s measures, though painful at times, are designed with the long-term benefit of the country in mind and have been implemented with good intentions.
He added that President Tinubu, as a father figure to the nation, continues to inspire hope for the future of Nigeria despite the challenges.
Furthermore, Governor Sani urged information managers to help educate Nigerians on the positive outcomes of the president’s policies. He emphasized the need for patience and understanding in communicating the reforms, stressing the importance of explaining the measures in ways that resonate with different segments of the population.
According to the governor, information managers have a crucial role in shaping public perception of the reforms and ensuring that the people understand the benefits of the government’s actions. He concluded by calling for the full support of the Nigerian people in the implementation of the president’s reform agenda.
Sani added, “Although some of the measures have been painful, they are being implemented with good intentions for the greater good of the Nigerian people. As a father of the nation, President Tinubu has continued to renew our hope in the possibilities of the Nigerian nation.
“Information Managers have a responsibility to effectively communicate Mr. President’s Reform Agenda to the Nigerian people. We must fashion a robust Communications Strategy to carry out this important task. We must give the people the background to the reforms, what it is all about, and the benefits therein.
“We must be patient with the people and break things down for them. Messages should be crafted in a way that takes care of the peculiarities of different audiences. We need the buy-in of the people in what we do. The people are our pillar of support.”
